Technical Lead - Android

Introduction

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead - Android to join TELUS Digital. In this role, you will design, develop, and deliver high-quality Android applications using Kotlin as the mandatory language.

Responsibilities

The role includes:

• Developing scalable, testable, and reliable Android solutions.
• Optimizing application performance through best practices.
• Researching and recommending industry best practices.
• Collaborating with architecture groups and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Applying design patterns, standard frameworks, and modern development techniques.
• Building reusable components and libraries for cross-department use.

Qualifications

Candidates must have:

• Expert-level Android development experience with 10+ years, including Java, Kotlin, RxJava, and RxAndroid.
• Experience with multiple Android form factors and versions.
• Working knowledge of app architectures like MVVM, MVI, and MVP.
• Exposure to performance tuning, power optimization, and Material UI design principles.
• A portfolio of published Android applications on the Play Store.
• Expertise in integrating REST APIs and using libraries such as Dagger, Picasso, Firebase, and SQLite.
• Strong understanding of Android fundamentals including Activity Lifecycle and services.
• Familiarity with RESTful services, Microservices, and modern architectural patterns.
• Experience with testing frameworks like Mockito and Espresso, including TDD/BDD practices.
• Strong object-oriented development skills and a passion for continuous learning.
