Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Applications Developer to join TELUS Digital. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and optimizing web applications and robust data pipelines in a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Development & Implementation: Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Java, Spring Boot, Spring, and MVC frameworks. Support legacy systems developed in Struts and Weblogic.
  • Cloud Application Design & Development: Contribute to scalable, secure GCP cloud solutions using tools like Composer, Dataflow, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Dataproc.
  • Data Engineering & Database Management: Write optimized SQL queries and work with Oracle and PostgreSQL (Cloud SQL) databases.
  • Code Analysis & Modernization: Analyze and refactor legacy codebases while implementing modern development practices including unit and integration testing.
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Utilize Maven build automation and GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipeline management.
  • Collaboration & Problem Solving: Work closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 10+ years overall application development experience; 5+ years with cloud application development on GCP
  • Strong Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and MVC framework expertise
  • Experience with Struts and legacy applications in Weblogic
  • Proficiency in Angular for front-end development
  • Solid understanding of GCP services and cloud-native principles
  • Expert in writing efficient SQL queries and managing Oracle and PostgreSQL databases
  • Familiar with Maven build automation and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
