This team is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating financial and operational risks across various domains including ecommerce, retail, internal systems, and operational processes. Your role specifically supports fraud-prevention initiatives by leveraging data tools, investigative approaches, and real-time fraud-monitoring systems to protect customers, internal teams, and company assets. This position is ideal for individuals with strong analytical skills, clear communication abilities, and a natural curiosity for fraud patterns and risk detection.

Key Responsibilities

Fraud Detection & Investigations

  • Review alerts from real-time, machine-learning-driven fraud tools and assess potential risk.
  • Conduct structured investigations using internal systems and cross-departmental information sources.
  • Support requests for investigative analysis from partner teams, summarizing findings in a clear and actionable format.
  • Perform monthly audits and present observations to leadership.

Analysis & Reporting
  • Use SQL to extract, join, and analyze large datasets for fraud detection and trend identification.
  • Utilize Excel (pivot tables, formulas, validation) to support documentation and casework.
  • Convert large, complex datasets into clear insights and recommended mitigation steps.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance investigative workflows and fraud-prevention controls.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with internal groups such as Fraud Controls, Asset Protection, Analytics, and Engineering to support fraud-related initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing reports for leadership that highlight risk trends and key findings.
  • Support subpoena or information-request processes in partnership with legal or compliance teams when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Foundational SQL experience with the ability to write queries for extraction, joining, and validation.
  • Strong Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, formulas, filters, and data-quality analysis.
  • Ability to review and interpret outputs from real-time or machine-learning fraud systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify patterns in complex data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and adherence to established documentation standards.
  • Self-directed, curious, and motivated to learn new tools and fraud-detection methods.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure Databricks or other SQL-driven big-data environments.
  • Familiarity with Power BI or similar dashboard/visualization tools.
