About the role
PostgreSQL DBA - TechHuman
We are seeking a Postgres Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. This role will support our on-premise PostgreSQL environment and assist in our migration to a hybrid cloud architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and optimize on-prem PostgreSQL databases.
- Perform database migrations, backups, recovery, and performance tuning.
- Create and modify database objects using DDL (e.g., tables, indexes, stored procedures).
- Work with development teams to understand downstream impacts of schema changes.
- Collaborate on the migration of databases to the cloud (target completion: August).
- Support regular deployment schedules.
- Ensure database availability, reliability, and security in a Linux environment.
- Work within a collaborative team that values shared responsibility and support.
Must-haves:
- 5+ Years of professional experience administering PostgreSQL in on-prem environments (not solely cloud-hosted).
- Professional exposure to multi-tenant environments utilizing a variety of data sources.
- Adept ability with SQL statements, table joins, views, stored procedures, etc.
- Professional experience with either SQL Server or Oracle databases.
- Strong knowledge of DDL and the ability to assess the impact of changes across applications.
