Uncover Hiring Manager

Job Description

Research Associate - Data

Most businesses grow until their data becomes a tangled web of spreadsheets and manual entries. This role is about unraveling that mess to bring a company back to a steady, predictable state.

About the role

As a Research Associate - Data, you are on the front lines of what we call the cleanup phase. When a company reach the awkward middle, their ERP, CRM, and accounting software often stop talking to each other. You will be the person who looks into these systems to find the root cause of the friction. You will not just be pointing out problems; you will be helping us rebuild the paths that data travels so that teams can trust their reports again. This is an entry-level position where you will learn how businesses actually run from the inside out by fixing the systems that power them.

How we work

We are operators, not consultants. We do not spend our time making slide decks or talking about high-level strategy. Instead, we get into the tools to configure settings, rewrite procedures, and remove the manual work that slows people down. Our goal is to ensure that a company's systems carry the load they were designed for. We work in a fully remote environment where clear documentation and reliable data are the highest priorities.

What you will do

  • Audit existing datasets to find duplicates, missing links, and manual errors that slow down monthly reporting.
  • Configure data routing between different tools to ensure information flows correctly without human intervention.
  • Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that explain exactly how data should be handled to prevent new silos from forming.
  • Consolidate fragmented spreadsheets into centralized, clean databases within our clients' existing software.
  • Test automation chains to make sure approval workflows and notification triggers are firing as intended.
  • Map out internal data dependencies to help our team understand where a process might break during a scale-up.
  • Clean and format raw data for migration into new software environments or updated ERP modules.

What we are looking for

  • A logical approach to problem solving that focuses on finding the simplest way to fix a broken process.
  • High attention to detail, especially when looking at large sets of information where one error can cause a chain reaction.
  • Comfort working with tools like Excel or Google Sheets, including the ability to use basic formulas to organize and sort information.
  • An interest in how businesses operate and a desire to see systems work efficiently and predictably.
  • The ability to explain technical steps clearly so that people who do not work with data can understand the process.
  • A self-starting mindset that allows you to manage your own tasks and schedule in a remote setting.
  • A habit of double-checking your work for accuracy before passing it on to the next person.

Helpful background

  • Experience using common business software like a CRM or a project management tool.
  • A basic understanding of how different software applications can be linked together.
  • Previous experience in a role that required high accuracy, such as data entry or administrative support.
  • Familiarity with writing clear instructions or simple guides for others to follow.

What we offer

  • Full autonomy over your remote workspace and a focus on your actual output rather than hours spent at a desk.
  • The opportunity to see the immediate impact of your work as companies move from chaos to clarity.
  • Direct exposure to various business models and the internal systems that power them across different industries.
  • A collaborative team environment where everyone is focused on getting the job done without corporate politics or unnecessary meetings.
  • The chance to develop a deep understanding of operational data and systems architecture from the ground up.

Working at Tech Pipeline

Tech Pipeline focuses on fixing the internal plumbing of growing companies. Most organizations reach a point where their systems, processes, and reporting were set up for a smaller version of the business. This leads to disconnected data and critical workflows that depend on a single person or a complex spreadsheet. We come in to find exactly where the work is breaking and rebuild it so it does not break again. We are a fully remote team of specialists dedicated to helping companies move past operational drag and return to a steady state. Our work is practical, grounded, and focused on making business systems reliable for the people who use them every day.
