Purpose of the role

We are seeking a proactive and driven Automation & Data Specialist to join our expanding Insights & Performance team, supporting the APAC region. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong analytical capabilities and proven experience in data automation. In this role, you will contribute to key client accounts and new business opportunities by amalgamating data across various sources, driving data cleaning, organisation, and automation to streamline workflows, data analysis, and visualisation to support deeper analysis.

You will play a crucial role in identifying data, AI, or tool trends and use cases applicable to our clients’ relevant industries or markets, enabling the brands we work with to capitalise on emerging trends, mitigate risks, and optimise strategies. You will often collaborate cross-functionally with various departments to uncover trends and insights to address specific business challenges.

This role requires diligence, independence, and technical savviness.

Key Responsibilities

Data Automation
  • Designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Google App Scripts
  • Integrating data from multiple internal and external sources with advanced SQL queries and Python scripts
  • Optimising data storage and retrieval for performance and efficiency with SQL tuning and Python or Google App Scripts automation
  • Collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver solutions
  • Automating data ingestion, transformation, and loading processes leveraging Python, Google App Scripts, and SQL
  • Monitoring and maintaining the health and performance of data infrastructure
  • Implementing effective data modelling and architecture solutions
  • Managing metadata and maintaining data catalogs for data discovery and lineage
  • Staying updated with emerging data engineering technologies and best practices
  • Participating in code reviews and ensuring adherence to coding standards, especially for Python, Google App Scripts, and SQL
Data Analytics and Reporting
  • Choosing the appropriate method for a particular request and formulating the logic/flow to deliver results against agreed KPIs for analysis or visualisation. This will be done collaboratively with the media analyst team (e.g., media monitoring, data scraping from web)
  • Ensuring the delivery of excellent, consistent service and results to clients; bringing rigorous evaluation and measurement to campaign planning and reporting
  • Ensuring the accuracy, comprehensive coverage, and timely delivery of reports on the client’s data footprint
  • Translating and summarising data to deliver timely reports and alerts to inform the client of any impending developments
  • Executing projects to create value and efficiencies for the client and the project/account servicing team
  • Utilising our tools and dashboard software suite to cover the end-to-end process of extracting raw data, uncovering insights, and delivering factual, digestible reports to clients and account teams
General
  • Running and supporting training sessions, with a view to maximising opportunities to expand team skills and grow revenues

About You

You are a highly curious individual with a foundation in data automation. You are open-minded and agnostic across data sets; on occasions with limited resources, you are able to find workarounds, prioritise what is available, and provide caveats to ensure analysis integrity. You have a positive growth mindset and are a team player, wanting to learn, collaborate, implement, and contribute to any projects, small or big.

You have an eye for detail, are a whiz at organising a large volume of data into easy-to-read charts, and are obsessed with understanding the “so what” & “why” behind data.

  • 2-3 years of experience in data automation, particularly in communications or business intelligence
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts and implementations
  • Strong knowledge in Python and SQL
  • Familiarity with Google Apps Script (JavaScript) and n8n
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and synthesise data from multiple sources
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interact confidently with internal and external stakeholders
  • Robust understanding of integrated communications; experience integrating PR with digital marketing, content, and broader marketing activities
  • Can problem solve, project manage, multi-task, remain calm under pressure, and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Integrity, humility, self-drive/initiative, sense of responsibility, and humour
