About the Ignite Fellow Role

Teach For America Ignite offers a rewarding and meaningful opportunity to gain unique, hands-on experience while fostering educational excellence. As an Ignite Fellow, you will be paid to mentor and tutor 2-3 students online, accelerating their growth and developing valuable leadership skills for your resume.

You will work approximately 3-5 hours per week for a 14-week term. The first two weeks are dedicated to onboarding and skill-building, followed by 12 weeks of direct partnership with students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruct and mentor small groups of 2-3 students.
  • Conduct online tutoring sessions using platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
  • Build strong relationships and foster a sense of belonging with students.
  • Facilitate learning in elementary reading, middle school math, or high school post-secondary access.

Who Teach For America Is Looking For

We seek individuals who are passionate about expanding educational opportunities and meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student, a TFA alum, or a renewing fellow.
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 (or 3.0 high school GPA for college freshmen).
  • Availability to work up to 5 hours per week during K-12 school hours.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. and at least 18 years old.
