Original Job Summary
Overview
TD is seeking a Legal Assistant III to provide legal secretarial support to one or more lawyers in Toronto, Ontario. You will maintain a close working relationship with lawyers while preparing, drafting, transcribing, and editing complex legal documents.
Responsibilities
- Transcribe and prepare complex legal documents, including factums and motions.
- Draft standard legal correspondences and pleadings for review.
- Manage lawyer calendars, schedule appointments, and resolve conflicts.
- Answer inquiries using judgment and discretion.
- Maintain lawyer’s files and assist in research, document review, and preparation.
- Provide training and guidance to legal assistants and occasionally to lawyers and law clerks.
- Perform additional duties such as arranging medical exams and managing law library.
Skills And Critical Competencies
Required skills include a college diploma in legal secretarial studies, 5+ years of litigation experience, excellent proofreading, clear communication skills, strong organization, and proficiency with MS Office.
