Job Summary
As a Data Designer I at TD, you will partner with business and technology teams to analyze, model, and document data requirements, ensuring accurate, well-governed data solutions. This role focuses on developing robust data models, managing metadata and data lineage, and actively supporting data quality, integration, and compliance with enterprise standards. You will contribute to data design, validation, and continuous improvement across various analytics and data platforms.
You will play a crucial role in assessing business needs, defining data dictionaries, resolving data integrity issues, and facilitating data analysis for business users and QA teams. Collaboration with technology and business partners is key to ensuring successful delivery and alignment of data solutions, while adhering to data governance policies and maintaining effective source code management practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and promote data models using industry-standard modeling tools.
- Assess business requirements, analyzing and documenting business data needs.
- Define, build, and manage data dictionaries/catalogs for various data platforms and systems.
- Ensure metadata and data lineage are captured and compatible with enterprise tools and processes.
- Run quality assurance reports and resolve data integrity issues for accurate reporting.
- Gather, review, analyze, profile, validate, and map system data for data warehouse integration.
- Ensure business data retention and disposal comply with enterprise data standards.
- Participate in and help implement continuous process improvements.
- Collaborate with technology and business teams for successful data solution delivery.
- Facilitate data analysis and investigations for business users and QA teams.
- Provide post-implementation support to ensure data solutions meet business outcomes.
- Coordinate business requirements with technical teams for smooth data integration.
- Actively participate in business and technical design reviews to align data architectures with objectives.
- Understand data governance and management initiatives, ensuring alignment with policies.
- Stay current on industry trends, business processes, data tools, and best practices.
- Contribute to a positive work environment, promoting teamwork and innovation.
- Keep informed on emerging trends, developments, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent in at least one programming language, preferably PySpark/Python.
- Strong SQL knowledge to build complex and nested queries.
- Data Modeling experience with knowledge of Star Schema & Snowflake schema.
- Experience working with very large datasets and familiarity with big data technologies.
- Ability to work with minimal direction on multiple projects and priorities.
- Familiarity with visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI.
- Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate in engineering, computer science, or related fields.
- 2+ years of relevant experience from a business administration, statistical, mathematical, scientific, or financial background.
