About the CIB Credit Analyst Role

Analysts in our Corporate and Leveraged Finance groups are involved with the structuring, execution and monitoring of debt transactions from inception through closing. Working with clients in a variety of industries, you will gain exposure to different business models and industry dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spread and monitor clients’ historical financial performance;
  • Create detailed models to project clients’ future cash flows and debt ratios;
  • Gather and analyze trends in qualitative and quantitative data;
  • Analyze deal structures;
  • Prepare and present diligence and structuring recommendations;
  • Compile data through due diligence and prepare comprehensive reviews that analyze transactions and client risks;
  • Assist with deal negotiations and documentation; and
  • Prepare client presentations.

Qualifications

Strong financial/analytical skills and excellent verbal and written communication abilities are essential. Successful candidates must have the capacity to become adept at financial modeling and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

You will be responsible for financial analysis of moderately complex loans/industries/Customers, working independently under the guidance of lead staff. A good understanding of loan risk factors is required. This involves researching industry-specific information from various outside sources and participating in Customer meetings to gather specific information. You will be an integral part of the loan origination process, performing underwriting analysis of Borrower's character, creditworthiness, and financial condition, and preparing insightful approval memorandums. Thorough analysis of financial statements, management profiles, business and product cycles, cash flow ability, collateral, and aging will be expected to identify trends, measure performance, assess financial strength, and develop credit risk assessments. You may also prepare complete written analyses with recommendations, maintain credit files, and monitor compliance with regulatory requirements.

Education & Experience

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience;
  • 2+ years related experience;
  • Developed knowledge of credit and financial analysis techniques;
  • Ability to gather, consolidate, analyze, and summarize data to provide well-considered recommendations on an increasingly independent basis;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong analytical and research skills;
  • Developed PC skills including demonstrated proficiency and capability in word processing and spreadsheet software;
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of credit and Customer information;
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team orientation.
