Overview

The Operations Specialist at TBI Airport Management Inc. is responsible for maintaining the airport’s operating certificate through routine inspections and regulatory compliance. The role supports both airside and terminal operations under the direction of the Operations Manager.

Major Responsibilities and Functions

  • Conduct daily 14 CFR Part 139 inspections (vehicle and on-foot) related to pavement management, signage, markings, lighting, wildlife mitigation, safety areas, aircraft operations and NAVAIDS.
  • Represent airport management during incidents and emergencies under Unified Incident Command, following the Airport Emergency Plan and Airport Security Program.
  • Issue NOTAMs and Notices of Violation as required.
  • Perform daily 49 CFR Part 1542 inspections to ensure TSA regulatory compliance.
  • Enforce Federal, State, and local regulations along with airport policies and procedures.
  • Utilize CLETS and JDIC software during law enforcement record checks.
  • Communicate with mutual aid agencies per the National Incident Management System and Airport Emergency Plan.
  • Monitor Automated License Plate Recognition System (ALRPS) and facility fire alarm system.
  • Maintain records, report logs, contractor tracker, and checklists for safe operations.
  • Act as liaison between airport administration and agencies such as the FAA, TSA, NTSB, ATCT and airport tenants.
  • Oversee airside construction projects and gate utilization management.
  • Perform communications center duties and landside inspections as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Provide customer service to travelers, tenants, agencies and airport staff.

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Take necessary precautions to ensure personal safety and health.
  • Report any conditions affecting workplace safety immediately.
  • Adhere to TBI Safety Program policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation management or a related field, plus minimum 2 years of airport operations experience.
  • Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 139 (and Part 77) and 49 CFR Part 1542.
  • Experience with law enforcement, fire department, and aviation radio communications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) and minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
  • Ability to pass security clearances and drug screening tests as required.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and technical writing skills.
  • Availability to work additional hours as needed.

Working Conditions

This position involves operating motor vehicles, walking on construction sites, climbing stairs, and other physical activities. The work environment is dynamic and may involve frequent interruptions, high public exposure and the need for rapid response to emergencies.
