Job Description
Court Reporter, Criminal Courts
The Court Reporter for the 371st Court performs senior professional level duties to achieve the short- and long-term goals of the work group.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Documents, maintains, and preserves required records and statistics pertinent to departmental operations.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, statutes, regulations, and policies, and may update staff on changes.
- Recommends and/or develops departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains and updates files.
- Manages special projects as directed.
- Stenographically records testimony of all court proceedings as requested by attorney(s) and/or the Court.
- Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the business as assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements
- To apply, must have an Associate’s degree + three (3) full-time years of related work experience. OR High School Diploma/GED + five (5) full-time years of related work experience.
- Must have and maintain a current certification by the State of Texas as a Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR).
- A CSR License is issued by the Texas Supreme Court upon completion of Court Reporting School and testing by the Texas Court Reporters Certification Board.
