Overview

The Lead UX Product Designer Prototyper at Target is responsible for translating complex digital experience challenges into tangible, high-fidelity prototypes. This role blends strategy and craft, using prototyping as a core tool for alignment, exploration, and storytelling to create engaging and inclusive digital experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Build high-fidelity, multi-sensory prototypes using interaction, motion, sound, and visuals.
  • Utilize rapid prototyping and testing to evaluate concept feasibility and impact.
  • Advance Target’s prototyping practice by exploring new tools and workflows.
  • Mentor designers in prototyping, experimentation, and storytelling craft.
  • Lead cross-functional design sprints to explore emerging behaviors and tech opportunities.
  • Translate fuzzy opportunities into clear experience models and service blueprints.
  • Design scalable systems and interaction models for omni-channel platforms.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders across product, UX, marketing, and stores.

About the Team & Culture

About You

  • 7+ years of experience in UX, including senior or lead roles.
  • Strong prototyping skills at multiple fidelities using modern tools.
  • Fluency in design systems, UX patterns, and modern interaction paradigms.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional efforts and design sprints.
  • A passion for inclusive design, accessibility, and human-centered innovation.
