AI Product Engineer

About the Role

The AI Product Engineer at Taranto Systems will lead the delivery of next-generation AI-powered products. This senior engineering role involves architecting, building, and deploying innovative AI solutions for local authorities managing parking and traffic enforcement and improving business processes across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of AI-enhanced commercial products from concept to deployment.
• Architect scalable, robust solutions integrating with existing platforms.
• Make strategic decisions regarding AI frameworks and approaches.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster technical innovation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define product strategy and roadmap.
• Research emerging AI technologies for commercial applications.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for deployment and monitoring.
• Establish development, testing, and quality assurance best practices.
• Engage with clients to understand requirements and gather feedback.
• Support business development including technical due diligence.

Required Experience & Skills

• 5+ years of software engineering with 2+ years in AI/ML product development.
• Proven success in delivering commercial AI products from concept to production.
• Expertise in AI/ML frameworks and LLM platforms.
• Strong skills in software architecture, design patterns, and system design.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerisation.
• Sound technical decision-making with a focus on innovation and practicality.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience in technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers.
• Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, and analytical problem-solving.

Desirable Requirements

• Experience in the public sector or regulated industries.
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, UK data protection laws).
• Background with document processing, automation, or decision support systems.
• Familiarity with ISO standards and quality management systems.
• Experience with API design and microservices architectures.
• Track record in contributing to technical strategy and R&D.

What We Offer

• Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 DOE (estimated 70,000).
