Role Purpose
The Property Desk Adjuster is responsible for handling losses and claims valued up to $15,000 for property and casualty insurers. The role involves thorough examination of documents, efficient case management using technology, and ensuring accurate claim processing.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Evaluate insurance policies, claims forms, endorsements, and carrier instructions.
- Conduct investigations including gathering official reports and consulting records.
- Communicate with claimants and witnesses to determine claim details.
- Estimate repair, replacement, or compensation costs and prepare detailed reports.
- Negotiate settlements, issue settlement checks, and manage salvage/subrogation.
- Recommend litigation when necessary and participate in hearings/depositions.
- Utilize technology and automation tools to manage caseload efficiently.
- Refer claims exceeding $15,000 to leadership.
Additional Functions
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Licensing: Bachelor's degree preferred; must obtain IIA-AIC designation within 12-18 months; appropriate state adjuster license required.
Experience: 3 years related experience preferred; property and casualty claims experience a plus.
Skills & Knowledge: Empathetic claims handling, strong communication, analytical and organizational skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and ability to work in a team under performance expectations.
Work Environment
Mental demands include clear judgment, problem solving, and multi-tasking under deadlines. Physical and auditory/visual requirements are standard with occasional travel as needed.
