Role Overview: AI Listening Generalist
Mercor is actively seeking highly skilled Generalists to join a critical, fast-moving project supporting one of the world's leading AI labs. This initiative is focused on enhancing AI systems specifically designed for therapeutic-style conversations, achieved through rigorous evaluation, comparison, and refinement of model-generated responses.
As an AI Listening Generalist, you will play a pivotal role in reviewing pairs of AI-generated replies. Your task will involve assessing these responses against a set of structured criteria, including empathy, emotional insight, communication quality, and overall appropriateness for supportive dialogue. Furthermore, you will be responsible for producing clear, improved rewrites when necessary, ensuring they align with the project's stringent standards. Your direct contributions will empower research teams to cultivate safe, supportive, and human-aligned AI behavior within mental-health-oriented conversational contexts.
Important Project Details
This project operates on an accelerated timeline, requiring contributors who are able to commence immediately following a mandatory onboarding session.

Contract and Payment Terms
- You will be engaged as an independent contractor for this role.
- This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to complete work on your own schedule.
- Project duration may be extended, shortened, or concluded early, dependent on evolving needs and performance.
- Your involvement with Mercor will not necessitate access to confidential or proprietary information from any external employer, client, or institution.
- Payments are processed weekly via Stripe or Wise, based on services rendered.
- Please note: Mercor is currently unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates for this project.
