Job Description

Join our Product Strategy team reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer. In the role of Software Engineer Identity Product Strategy, you will build proof-of-concepts, work with customers on integrations, and demonstrate how Tailscale’s connectivity and identity layer solves real problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build POCs showcasing Tailscale for AI agents and identity use cases.
  • Work with customers for internal VPN replacement and product integrations.
  • Create reference architectures and document your work.
  • Engage in community outreach and deliver presentations.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience with developing and operating identity systems in real-world conditions.
  • Strong skills in rapid prototyping and technical explanation.
  • Expertise with authentication protocols such as OAuth, OIDC, SAML, and SCIM.
  • Hands-on experience with identity infrastructure and access control models like RBAC/ABAC.
  • Proficiency in Go and/or Python with exposure to TypeScript a plus.
  • Experience with AI/LLM in planning and development, including building tooling on top of LLMs.
  • Ability to validate code for production use in collaboration with security teams.
  • Self-driven and effective in a fully remote work environment.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Tailscale's networking solutions and agentic AI tools.
  • Background in developer tooling and understanding of networking challenges in multi-cloud/hybrid deployments.
  • Active participation in open source communities.
