Your Responsibilities as a Principal IT Project Manager

As a Principal IT Project Manager, you will assume strategic and operational leadership for complex software development, SAP, and transformation projects. This involves managing external and internal C-level stakeholders and guiding global teams through both classic and agile frameworks.

Key aspects of your role include:

  • Leading strategically important and challenging large projects and programs.
  • Developing and overseeing the strategy for successful project realization, managing all process steps.
  • Establishing project teams and clearly defining tasks and responsibilities.
  • Identifying and actively representing potential claims with customers.
  • Managing requirements, scope, and backlogs effectively.
  • Building and maintaining an efficient risk management system, identifying and resolving potential obstacles.
  • Ensuring the timely delivery of agreed-upon project deliverables and navigating difficult project scenarios.
  • Being accountable for your projects to customers, internal and external service providers, and senior management.

Your Profile

You should possess a completed education or degree in IT or Business, complemented by a minimum of 10 years of experience in IT project management, specifically within software development projects. A proven track record of successfully completing several large projects/programs across diverse domains is essential, including experience with projects involving 100+ employees and near/offshore components.

Additionally, you should bring the following skills and expertise:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in delivering complex software solutions to demanding clients using best practice tools, technologies, and methodologies (e.g., Scaled Agile, DevOps, Continuous Integration).
  • A solution-oriented approach to complex challenges and serving as a team role model, with a strong commitment to knowledge transfer.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills in both German and English are mandatory.
  • Experience in requirement analysis within complex agile projects, alongside detailed knowledge of contract, risk, and claim management.
  • Experience in solution design, software architectures, software development, test automation, and deployment is advantageous.
  • Relevant Agile and/or Project Management certifications (e.g., PMP, IPMA, PRINCE2, SCRUM, SAFe) are preferred; certifications in Six Sigma Black Belt, Design Thinking, or COBIT are a plus.

This position is also available part-time. Severely disabled persons will be given preferential consideration if equally qualified.
