Job Description
Technical Business Analyst at System Automation Corporation
System Automation (SA) is a software vendor focused on providing systems that support government regulatory management operations. Founded in the District of Columbia in 1968, SA has evolved into an industry leader, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive information management applications for government regulatory agencies across the country. Our extensive licensure experience, spanning nearly three decades, involves delivering SaaS licensure and compliance solutions to government regulatory agencies in 20 states, supporting nearly 800 different professions, occupations, and industries.
With the recent launch of Evoke, our cloud-native, low-code application platform (LCAP) specifically designed for regulatory management, infused with SA's decades of professional licensing expertise, it is an exciting time for growth within the company.
About The Role
As a Technical Business Analyst, you will be responsible for owning solution requirements from discovery through delivery, independently configuring production-ready applications using our SaaS low-code application platform. This critical role involves translating complex business needs into scalable system solutions by analyzing processes, documenting detailed requirements, and configuring workflows, data models, actions, and user experiences that effectively support business objectives.
A typical day involves leading discussions with stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of client business challenges, defining functional solution designs, and building or refining solutions using the platform’s low-code utilities. This may include independently delivering configured solutions or producing clear, actionable user stories to support solution development. Success requires strong analytical and technical thinking, clear communication with both technical and non-technical audiences, and sound judgment when designing solutions that balance platform capabilities, system constraints, and long-term maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead requirements discovery with customers and stakeholders to gather and document detailed business requirements.
- Review and analyze RFP requirements to ensure alignment with business goals and product capabilities.
- Gather and synthesize input from various sources to inform upcoming changes and enhancements to the software platform.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery of product enhancements.
- Participate in and/or lead design sessions with designers, software engineers, and quality assurance analysts.
- Independently configure and deliver solutions using the low-code platform.
- Configure and maintain workflows, data models, business rules, and user experiences with an understanding of downstream impacts.
- Troubleshoot and debug system errors and implement solutions to resolve them.
- Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-4 years of hands-on experience independently delivering business analysis and system configuration work in a production environment.
- Ability to confidently challenge assumptions and recommend alternative solutions.
- Skill in translating ambiguous business needs into concrete, testable requirements.
- Capability to facilitate discussions with minimal direction.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Comfortable working under pressure or strict deadlines.
- Self-starter with a high degree of integrity and professionalism.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and product delivery principles.
- Knowledge of user story creation and backlog management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with business analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with software development projects.
- Experience working with low-code platforms and workflow automation (MS Power Apps / Logic Apps is a plus).
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar agile tools.
