Mechanical Engineer
Synectics Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 4-8 years of experience to join our team. This role involves preparing specifications for mechanical equipment, estimating costs, and providing technical support for generation projects.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare specifications for purchases of mechanical equipment and materials.
- Estimate material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation.
- Write reports and compile data on mechanical engineering projects and studies.
- Provide technical support to other departments and personnel.
- Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements.
- Direct or coordinate installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.
- Establish construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications.
- Perform a wide range of detailed calculations.
- Evaluate and review mechanical equipment and piping size and layouts.
- Conduct construction drawing reviews of P&ID and equipment layouts.
- Collaborate with customers and coworkers on mechanical engineering products or projects.
- Monitor project progress and budget, and prepare reports for upper management.
- Conduct equipment drawing and vendor submittal reviews.
- Design, maintain, implement, or improve mechanical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with clients for mechanical engineering project matters.
- Manage the development and implementation of mechanical systems.
- Complete site visits as necessary to support engineering and construction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, welding, or industrial engineering from an ABET accredited program; OR Engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program + a Professional Engineering license in Mechanical Engineering.
- 4 - 8 years of experience.

- Experience with the design and specification of power generation fluid systems (steam, condensate, fuel gas, cooling water, compressed air, etc.), especially in natural gas plants.

- Strong P&ID and equipment layout review skills.
- Experience in mechanical system design & drawing interpretation.
- Heavy industrial, utilities, or power plant experience.
- Familiarity with pumps, fans, boilers, welding, conveyor systems, etc.
