Job Summary

We are looking for a Customer Technical Development Engineer to provide professional and timely technical expertise to customers, initiate and/or support the commercial team to develop new markets/applications, and support the promotion of the company’s products. The goal is to develop the Syensqo Specialty Polymers business in the assigned domain and area, with a main focus on the Auto market including electrification in Korea.

We count on you for:

  • Develop technical expertise on existing and new applications of Syensqo’s products in collaboration with R&D, Marketing, Sales, and other internal functions, as well as with external parties like customers or testing institutes.
  • Provide proactive technical consultation and subject-matter expertise to anticipate problems and identify excellent technical solutions for customers and leads.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers at various levels of their organization.
  • Network with industry technology managers at final users and within industry associations.
  • Gather intelligence information on evolving market needs and technology trends.
  • Identify new market opportunities with existing and new customers.
  • Develop and present new applications to customers and leads.
  • Present technologies and products at technical conferences.
  • Train customers on the use and benefits of the products.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints.
  • Prepare and present technical presentations, articles, training, product databases, and other technical literature/documentation for internal and external use.
  • Participate in other activities as assigned or requested.

You will bring:

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Polymer Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related technical discipline.
  • 3-10 years of experience within the market/industries/products (Aromatics/Engineering Plastic and/or Fluoroelastomers/Fluoropolymers) in product development or similar roles (e.g., Tech marketing, Tech service, R&D etc.).
  • Experience with melt processing (including injection molding, compression molding, tool design, etc.).
  • Background in Polymer chemistry, Polymer processing, or Fluorine (Polymer) Chemistry.
  • Electrochemistry background / Battery Science knowledge.
  • Knowledge on Physical testing (Mechanical, Environmental) and Chemical analysis (Thermal analysis).
  • Experience with direct communication with customers.
  • CAE/Moldflow knowledge (to understand results and explain details for customer development improvement).
  • Business communication in Korean (native) and English: Good communication skills with global customers and colleagues.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
