About the Role
This entry-level role supports youth-centered research and translational science initiatives, focusing on improving the well-being of Black, Brown, and Queer young people. The Research Assistant is responsible for research organization and effective communication of findings. Key responsibilities include:
- Creating literature and landscape reviews
- Presenting research findings through written and verbal communication
- Recruiting and engaging research participants
- Organizing and conducting focus groups and interviews
- Performing qualitative and quantitative analyses
- Coordinating with external collaborators and supporting IRB protocol development
- Assisting with event and partnership convening planning
Position Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will:
- Create and maintain research tracking documents and databases
- Recruit, schedule, track, and engage research participants
- Coordinate research activities including kick-offs, focus groups, interviews, and surveys
- Participate in data synthesis to distill actionable insights
- Write and present landscape and literature reviews
- Coordinate internal and external communications regarding research findings
- Organize IRB documentation and communicate with IRB officers
- Support meeting logistics and follow-up tasks
- Assist in event planning and evaluation of research partnerships
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
A combination of education, relevant work experience, and/or training that proves the capability to complete the tasks is required. A Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, anthropology, sociology, public health, or health services research is a plus.
- Experience with academic literature searches and reference management
- Proficient with survey tools, collaboration tools, and project management applications
- Strong project administration and coordination skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
- Experience in relationship building with research participants and external collaborators
Term, Compensation, and Benefits
This is a two-year, full-time, term-limited employment opportunity starting in June 2026. Compensation is tied to local job market data. Hourly rates vary by location with competitive benefits including medical, dental, vision, internet stipends, wellness programs, paid time off, and 401K contributions. Business travel and regular in-person collaboration in the SF Bay Area are required.
In-Person and Travel Expectations
The preferred location for this role is the San Francisco Bay Area. On average, expect domestic travel 4-6 times per year and quarterly retreats, plus one in-office day per week if local.
