About The Role
Our client is seeking its first dedicated IT Manager to establish and scale its internal IT function as the company targets growth to 600+ employees globally. This IT Manager will be accountable for delivering rapid and seamless IT outcomes while supporting organizational scaling and compliance objectives.
Currently, the company utilizes a third-party IT vendor for execution. The IT Manager will oversee outcomes, manage vendor relationships, define and evolve processes, and serve as the central point of accountability for all IT matters as the company expands. This individual will report to the Head of People Operations, with a strong functional alignment to the Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations & End-User Experience
- Own end-to-end IT operations, enhancing speed and consistency for onboarding, offboarding, laptop lifecycle, access management, and device security.
- Ensure reliable, scalable, and auditable IT processes as the company grows.
- Foster a sense of urgency for resolving IT issues and act as the primary escalation point for any friction.
- Collaborate with People Operations and Engineering to provide seamless employee lifecycle support for the global and expanding workforce.
- Partner with Engineering and Security to manage laptop refresh cycles, software provisioning, patching, and endpoint security controls.
Vendor & Tooling Management
- Manage relationships with IT vendor(s), encompassing performance, SLAs, and cost effectiveness.
- Assess when to optimize, replace, or insource capabilities as the company scales.
- Lead tooling decisions for identity management, endpoint management, and IT automation.
Security, Compliance & Audit Partnership
- Work closely with Security and Engineering to ensure IT processes align with SOC 2 / ISO / future compliance requirements.
- Implement controls practically, balancing risk mitigation with employee efficiency.
- Maintain audit-ready evidence for IT-owned controls and workflows.
- Contribute to the evolution of guardrails, automation, and policies to ensure predictable audits.
Scaling with Intention
- Apply best practices from high-growth environments thoughtfully.
- Anticipate IT infrastructure needs for 600–1,000 employees.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Influence without excessive process, understanding when structure is vital and when flexibility is key.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience owning all IT operations across a business, with significant time in high-growth startup environments.
- Proven experience managing IT outcomes through third-party vendors or MSPs.
- Strong grasp of modern SaaS-based IT environments.
- Working knowledge of security and compliance concepts.
- Comfort navigating ambiguity and transforming it into clear direction.
- Sound judgment in balancing controls with operational speed.
