About The Role: IT Manager

Our client is seeking its first dedicated IT Manager to build and scale its internal IT function, supporting a projected growth to 600+ global employees. This pivotal role is responsible for delivering fast, low-friction IT outcomes while ensuring the organization meets its crucial compliance goals.

Initially, the company leverages a third-party IT vendor for execution. The IT Manager will take full ownership of outcomes, manage vendor relationships, define and evolve IT processes, and serve as the primary internal point of accountability for all IT matters as the company expands.

This role reports to the Head of People Operations, with a strong collaborative relationship with the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

IT Operations & End-User Experience
  • Own end-to-end IT operations, improving speed and consistency for onboarding, offboarding, laptop lifecycle management, access management, and device security.
  • Ensure reliable, scalable, and auditable IT processes that support company growth.
  • Drive urgency in resolving IT issues and act as the main escalation point for friction.
  • Collaborate with People Operations and Engineering to provide seamless employee lifecycle support for the global workforce.
  • Partner with Engineering and Security to manage laptop refresh cycles, software provisioning, patching, and endpoint security controls.
Vendor & Tooling Management
  • Manage relationships with IT vendor(s), including performance, SLAs, and cost effectiveness.
  • Evaluate options to optimize, replace, or bring capabilities in-house as the company scales.
  • Lead tooling decisions for identity management, endpoint management, and IT automation.
Security, Compliance & Audit Partnership
  • Work closely with Security and Engineering to ensure IT processes align with SOC 2 / ISO / future compliance requirements.
  • Implement practical controls that balance risk mitigation with employee productivity.
  • Maintain audit-ready evidence for IT-owned controls and workflows.
  • Contribute to evolving guardrails, automation, and policies to make audits predictable.
Scaling with Intention
  • Apply best practices from high-growth environments thoughtfully.
  • Anticipate IT infrastructure needs for 600–1,000 employees.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Influence outcomes without excessive process, knowing when structure or flexibility is needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience owning all IT operations, particularly in high-growth startup environments.
  • Proven experience managing IT outcomes with third-party vendors or MSPs.
  • Strong grasp of modern SaaS-based IT environments.
  • Working knowledge of security and compliance principles.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and transforming it into clear direction.
  • Excellent judgment in balancing controls with operational speed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Rippling.
  • Track record of supporting globally distributed teams.
  • Exposure to audits or compliance programs in fast-moving companies.
