About The Role: IT Manager
Our client is seeking its inaugural dedicated IT Manager to establish, own, and scale the internal IT function, supporting the company's growth towards 600+ global employees. This role is crucial for ensuring rapid and seamless IT outcomes while advancing organizational scaling and compliance goals.
Currently, a third-party IT vendor manages hands-on execution. The IT Manager will be responsible for overall outcomes, vendor management, process definition and evolution, and acting as the primary internal point of accountability for all IT matters as the company expands.
This position will report to the Head of People Operations, with a significant dotted line relationship to the Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations & End-User Experience
- Own end-to-end IT operations, enhancing speed and consistency for onboarding, offboarding, laptop lifecycle management, access management, and device security.
- Ensure the development of reliable, scalable, and auditable IT processes to support company growth.
- Cultivate a sense of urgency for IT issue resolution and serve as the primary escalation point for any friction.
- Collaborate with People Operations and Engineering to deliver seamless employee lifecycle support across the global, expanding workforce.
- Partner with Engineering and Security to administer laptop refresh cycles, software provisioning, patching, and endpoint security controls.
Vendor & Tooling Management
- Manage relationships with IT vendor(s), encompassing performance oversight, SLA adherence, and cost-effectiveness.
- Strategically evaluate opportunities to optimize, replace, or internalize capabilities as the company scales.
- Lead tooling decisions for identity management, endpoint management, and IT automation.
Security, Compliance & Audit Partnership
- Work closely with Security and Engineering to ensure IT processes align with SOC 2 / ISO / future compliance requirements.
- Implement controls practically, balancing risk mitigation with employee productivity.
- Maintain audit-ready evidence for IT-owned controls and workflows.
- Contribute to the evolution of guardrails, automation, and policies to ensure predictable audits.
Scaling with Intention
- Apply best practices from high-growth environments thoughtfully and effectively.
- Anticipate the IT infrastructure and needs for a workforce of 600–1,000 employees.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Influence without excessive process, discerning when structure is essential and when flexibility is paramount.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience owning all IT operations across a business, with considerable time spent in high-growth startup environments.
- Proven experience managing IT outcomes while collaborating with third-party vendors or MSPs.
- Strong understanding of modern SaaS-based IT environments.
- Working knowledge of security and compliance concepts.
- Comfort navigating ambiguity and transforming it into clear, actionable plans.
- Excellent judgment in balancing controls with operational speed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Rippling.
- Experience supporting globally distributed teams.
- Previous exposure to audits or compliance programs in dynamic, fast-moving companies.
Additional Information
The annual salary range for this IT Manager position is $160,000-$220,000 USD, which is location-independent in accordance with the remote-first policy. Meaningful equity compensation is provided in the form of ISO options, featuring early exercise and a 10-year post-termination exercise window.
