About the Director of IT

Swooped is revolutionizing urban delivery with autonomous sidewalk robots that reduce traffic and support local businesses. Led by experts in robotics, ML, and design, the team is collaborative and mission-driven. This role oversees IT strategy, infrastructure, and security across all sites, ensuring scalable, reliable systems that enable growth and seamless robotics operations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the IT roadmap aligned with growth, expansion, and R&D goals. Partner with engineering, operations, HR, finance, and facilities to drive IT-enabled business and robotics innovation. Lead planning for new markets, acquisitions, and major initiatives.

Infrastructure & Systems: Oversee enterprise IT infrastructure, networks, and cloud services with a focus on uptime and scalability. Implement collaboration, productivity, and ERP systems that support cross-functional teams. Support IoT and edge-device deployments critical to robotics delivery operations.

Security & Compliance: Collaborate with security leaders to drive identity management, endpoint protection, and incident response. Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA, and related requirements.

Team & Vendor Leadership: Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing IT team while managing budgets, procurement, vendor contracts, and partner relationships.

Support & Operations: Establish SLAs for IT support across offices, labs, and depots. Drive continuous improvement in helpdesk and IT services to maximize productivity.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years in IT infrastructure and operations, with 5+ years in leadership.
  • Proven experience managing enterprise IT environments in high-growth, tech-driven companies.
  • Experience in managing live operations across multiple time zones.
  • Expertise in networking, cloud platforms, identity management, and enterprise systems.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and vendor management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IoT deployments and smart edge devices.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CISSP or equivalent networking qualifications.
  • Exposure to robotics, logistics, or live operations environments.
  • Background in budget ownership and supporting M&A activities.

Compensation

$210K – $250K with Equity
