Innovation Manager - Focus on Automation & Artificial Intelligence

What does SWK-NOVATEC GmbH do? SWK-NOVATEC GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Stadtwerke Karlsruhe. The company's purpose is the development, planning, and realization of innovative technologies, products, services, and supply concepts. A further essential task is to monitor the market, identify market opportunities, and develop future-oriented topics up to their own implementation. The scope of duties includes the support of technologies, products, and services up to market entry, including the subsequent handover of topics to the affected business units. Furthermore, the company actively contributes to and significantly supports important current projects of Stadtwerke Karlsruhe and Stadtwerke Karlsruhe Netzservice. In this way, new ideas can be found and further developed.

Your Tasks

Innovation & AI

• Identification, evaluation, and prioritization of innovation and AI use cases
• Development of AI prototypes, e.g., chatbots, AI agents, RAG solutions
• Testing of open-source language models (prompt engineering, potentially fine-tuning)
• Testing, selection, and possibly introduction of suitable tools & platforms (Microsoft ecosystem, SAP, integration platforms)

Process Management

• Understanding and clearly sketching existing internal business processes
• Identification of automation and optimization potentials
• Close collaboration with specialist departments to sustainably anchor solutions

Project & Implementation Management

• Independent leadership of innovation and transformation projects
• Structuring complex, ill-defined problems
• Proactive communication and coordination of involved stakeholders
• Accompanying pilot projects until handover to regular operation

Collaboration & Culture

• Network maintenance and development (start-ups, research, technology providers)
• Catalyst for cultural change towards a Growth Mindset, AI, and New Work
• Communication of technological topics for non-technical stakeholders

Your Profile

Ideally, you have 2-3 years of experience in the following areas:

• Innovation, digitalization, process management, or project management
• Understanding of AI use cases, models, and legacy systems
• Use of low-code/no-code platforms
• Personal hobby projects in these areas are also exciting

Furthermore, you convince with:

• Structured, independent way of working, even with limited information
• Enjoyment in bringing ideas to life and introducing them into an established company
• Effective communication across all company divisions
• Entrepreneurial thinking, sense of responsibility, and openness to new things
