Overview
The Service Advisor is the critical link between customers and service technicians in a dealership or repair shop. Acting as a customer service expert, technical communicator, and advisor, you will ensure a smooth and positive experience throughout the vehicle service process.
Responsibilities
Customer Service and Communication:
- Greet customers and establish rapport.
- Conduct visual inspections or road tests when needed.
- Explain service recommendations, repair options, and cost estimates clearly.
- Obtain customer authorization for repairs.
- Provide regular service updates and post-service follow ups.
Service Process Management:
- Schedule service appointments based on technician availability.
- Write detailed service orders including customer concerns.
- Liaise with technicians and track service progress.
- Process payments and maintain accurate invoicing.
- Keep detailed service records.
Technical Knowledge and Parts Management:
- Understand automotive systems and common repairs.
- Stay updated on new technologies and service procedures.
- Research parts availability and pricing.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Uphold safety regulations and shop protocols.
- Perform basic inspections or vehicle preparations if needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license.
- Strong hospitality quotient: kindness, optimism, curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity.
- Familiarity with automotive terminology and mechanical principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with dealership management software (DMS) and basic computer skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and in a team.
