Overview

The Automotive Service Technician at Swickard is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing all types of automotive issues. Veterans are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Diagnosis and Repair:

  • Analyze customer concerns to identify vehicle malfunctions.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools (scanners, multimeters, pressure gauges, etc.).
  • Inspect vehicle systems including engine, transmission, brakes, and electrical.
  • Prepare repair plans with cost estimates and secure customer authorization.
  • Repair/replace faulty components and test for functionality and safety.
  • Document repairs and parts usage.

Customer Service:

  • Interact professionally with customers, explaining technical issues.
  • Provide accurate repair estimates and timelines.
  • Keep customers updated on service progress.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of automotive systems and repair procedures.
  • Proficient in using various diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Keep up with new technologies via training and certifications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform test drives to evaluate vehicle performance.
  • Research technical information for complex problems.
  • Recommend preventative maintenance services.
  • Contribute to a positive and efficient team environment.

Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate high "Hospitality Quotient" (kindness, optimism, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity), possess a valid driver's license and have 2-3 years automotive service experience or equivalent training. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications are a plus.
