Senior Data Engineer (Remote - Romania)

Suvoda is seeking a skilled and driven Senior Data Engineer to evolve our data platform towards a data mesh architecture. Reporting to the Manager, Data Engineering, you will design and build domain-oriented data products using GraphQL APIs and support near real-time reporting through AWS DMS replication to Aurora PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a data mesh architecture with GraphQL APIs.
  • Build and maintain an AWS-based data lake using S3, Glue, Lake Formation, Athena, and Redshift.
  • Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS Glue and PySpark.
  • Implement AWS DMS pipelines for near real-time analytics via Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • Support data governance, quality, observability, and API design best practices.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering and analytics teams for reusable data solutions.
  • Contribute to automation and CI/CD practices for data infrastructure.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related technical field.
  • 5+ years in data engineering with complex data systems ownership.
  • Experience with GraphQL APIs, AWS Glue, PySpark, and AWS data lake technologies.
  • Hands-on with AWS DMS, Aurora PostgreSQL, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL and data modeling and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in data engineering, distributed systems, or cloud architecture.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis).
  • Familiarity with data cataloging, metadata management, and compliance standards.
  • Background in agile development and DevOps practices.
