Role Overview: MIS Analyst

As an MIS Analyst you will be a key member of the Revenue Cycle Team supporting Client Management, Client Reporting, operation processes, and problem resolution. This position reports directly to the Director, Operational Support. This MIS Analyst works directly with Support Team Members, and closely with other Directors, Sr. Managers, Revenue Cycle Managers, Finance, and Accounting to ensure integrity of our Revenue Cycle Operations. Responsible for managing, analyzing, and reporting key operational and financial data to support AR Recovery and overall Revenue Cycle Management performance. This role involves data normalization, forecasting, revenue estimation, invoicing, and dashboard creation to enable informed decision-making across multiple business units. Must understand the structure, policies, and operations of an organization and review, analyze, develop and recommend changes to assist with all aspects of the revenue cycle. Will compile, analyze, interpret, and present data related to current and future operations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Data Management: Track, normalize, and maintain data for KPIs related to productivity, inventory, and client performance. Ensure data integrity and consistency across Surgical Information Systems (SIS).
  • Forecasting & Revenue Estimation: Prepare weekly Month-to-Date (MTD) forecasts and estimate month-end revenue based on current trends and historical data.
  • Invoicing: Manage and process invoicing activities accurately and on time.
  • Cash/Collection Goal Standardization: Work toward standardizing methodologies for determining cash/collection goals across different business units.
  • Client Reporting: Create and maintain client report cards to track performance metrics and ensure timely delivery of reports.
  • Dashboard Development: Design and update dashboards for daily data refresh, integrating data from SIS systems and other sources.
  • Project Support: Assist with special projects such as aging analysis by payer/bucket, SLA tracking, and backlog prioritization.
  • Perform research and analysis related to billing and reimbursement; maintain current knowledge in the areas of third-party billing, reimbursement schedules and methodologies, coding, payer contracts, billing and payment rules and regulations.
  • Develop and deliver organized, concise yet thorough, communications to management, regarding proposed changes, deficiencies, developments, and opportunities.
  • Work closely with the RCM/Accounting/Finance Teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Create end-user documentation (e.g., user guides, process flow charts, training materials) and deliver training.
  • Increase productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools.
  • Analyzes large sets of data to uncover key insights that can be leveraged strategically for our internal and external customers.
  • Ensures projects are on track and builds contingency and mitigation plans when risks are identified.
  • Promotes teamwork and maintains a high level of satisfaction with all project team members.
  • Continuously looks for and develops innovative solutions to complex revenue cycle problems.

Education Preferred

  • BA/BS Degree in Health Administration, Management Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Business, Statistics or related.
  • 5+ years of Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), Managed Care Contracting, and/or Revenue Cycle experience is a plus.

Specific Knowledge & Skills Required

  • 3-5 plus years in an MIS or similar role.
  • Highly skilled with business software applications, including Microsoft Office suite and PDF software.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, INDEXMATCH, Pivot Tables, etc.), SQL, and data visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau).
  • High proficiency in financial modeling techniques.
  • Prior experience in creating dashboards and client performance reports.
  • Knowledge with Surgical Information Systems, SIS Complete or other ASC software, a plus.
  • Knowledge of Revenue Cycle Management processes and AR Recovery workflows.
  • Ability to manage large datasets and ensure data accuracy.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a critical thinker and possess strong knowledge of all revenue cycle operations.
  • Strong relational skills, as they relate to external (clients and/or health plans) as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure while successfully meeting deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal skills (verbal and written) and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of staff levels.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and prioritization skills, ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Research capabilities when confronted with an issue.
