Job Summary

The Principal Informatics Clinician at Surescripts plays a critical role in advancing healthcare transformation by driving improvements in patient safety, refining clinical workflows, and supporting the evolution of care through our trusted nationwide network. This client-facing role involves close collaboration with senior informatics staff and external partners, including EHR vendors, pharmacies, and payers.

The position will own complex clinical data analysis, lead execution of cross-functional initiatives, define and refine solution requirements, and actively engage with customers to ensure successful delivery. The incumbent brings deep clinical expertise, excels in communication, and demonstrates a strong commitment to healthcare technology and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support strategic plans to execute project goals aimed at improving clinical data quality and clinical workflows.
  • Define requirements for innovative capabilities to use clinical data in Surescripts’ solutions.
  • Serve as a clinical subject matter expert by analyzing clinical data and clearly communicating its results, value, and impact to both internal and external customers.
  • Develop and strengthen customer relationships with key network stakeholders.
  • Manage and execute projects and analyses for internal and external clients and stakeholders, including developing dashboards and presentations.
  • Manage and facilitate customer meetings virtually and in person.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership through internal training, external presentations, and/or joint customer artifacts.
  • Participate in clinical content creation and maintenance.
  • Partner with account teams to ensure courteous, timely, and effective resolution of customer questions and issues.
  • Apply knowledge of clinical terminologies (e.g., RxNorm, SNOMED) and data standards to help identify meaningful clinical insights in EHR and other clinical data sources.
  • Support initiatives using AI and other data analysis tools to advance clinical solutions.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a clinical discipline (e.g., BSN, BS Pharm) and 8+ years of relevant clinical or informatics experience; or commensurate experience via the combination of an advanced clinical degree (e.g., MSN, MPAS, MD, PharmD, DNP) or advanced clinical informatics program, and relevant clinical or informatics experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing complex strategic initiatives such as client implementations, new product implementation, product launches, or other key business programs.
  • 3+ years of experience identifying high-level requirements for health IT solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience of creating and delivering clinical data analyses.
  • Advanced knowledge of basic data querying and manipulation using tools such as Microsoft Excel and SQL.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of clinical data analysis experience using terminologies such as RxNorm, SNOMED, and/or drug compendium such as First Databank, Medispan, or Multum.
  • Customer-centric, excellent verbal and written communication skills with an eye to customer needs and viewpoints.
  • Ability to break down complex internal and external stakeholder input and product detail into clear talking points.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using programming languages such as Python or R, with exposure to AI tools, Jupyter Notebooks, and other related technologies.
