Lead Engineer, Mass Properties

What We Do

The Lead Engineer, Mass Properties builds analysis capabilities from the ground up and assists in developing and tracking aircraft mass properties. This role is crucial for loads development, structural analysis, aircraft performance trade studies, cost analysis, and more. Reporting to the Head of Systems Engineering, you will provide technical solutions for the MP Engineering Team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system-level trades ensuring design meets all requirements.
  • Conduct advanced design weight estimation for design proposals and trade studies.
  • Perform estimation, calculation, and verification of mass properties.
  • Develop analysis methods and tools for mass properties estimation.
  • Collaborate in multi-disciplinary trade studies to guide design decisions.
  • Generate and maintain mass properties reports for multi-functional teams.
  • Develop, support, and implement test plans.
  • Manage mass properties data and maintain databases.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Can Contribute

You should hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field with a preference for candidates with a Master’s or Ph.D. in Aerospace/Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering. At least ten years’ experience in a similar aerospace role is expected, including Aircraft Weight and Balance Certification, familiarity with CATIA V5/V6, and expertise in mass properties management. Experience with multiple technical domains from structures to regulatory compliance is required.
