About The Role
The Manager of Video Production at Samsara plays a pivotal role in crafting compelling visual narratives that showcase the company’s innovative IoT solutions and their impact across industries. This leadership position involves managing and mentoring a team of talented video producers and editors, fostering a creative and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be hands-on, contributing directly to the production of high-quality videos, including shooting and editing content that aligns with the company’s strategic objectives. The role requires developing and executing a comprehensive video strategy that addresses complex storytelling challenges, translating technical and data-driven insights into engaging, human-centric stories. The Manager will influence the broader creative direction of Samsara’s visual media, ensuring that content resonates with diverse audiences and enhances brand perception. Additionally, this role involves collaborating across departments, managing external vendors, and leading initiatives that elevate the company’s visual storytelling capabilities. The position is based within 60 miles of San Francisco and involves up to 30% travel to support various projects and client engagements.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in video production, including hands-on shooting and editing
- 2+ years of experience in people management, with a proven track record of building high-performing teams
- Based in or near the San Francisco Bay Area, with willingness to travel as needed
- Deep understanding of evolving video technologies and AI-enhanced production tools
- Proven ability to lead large-scale, cross-functional video projects from concept to delivery
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to align stakeholders across organizational boundaries
- Experience managing external vendors and freelance networks during peak production cycles
- Creative problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex technical data into engaging visual stories
Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of video producers and editors, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Contribute directly to video shoots and edits, ensuring the delivery of high-quality content across multiple formats

- Coordinate and lead cross-team initiatives, building consensus and ensuring alignment across departments
- Manage external vendors and freelance resources to support production demands
- Embed Samsara’s cultural principles into all aspects of production, serving as a role model and leader
