About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff-level Engineer with a passion for user experience, interaction design, and frontend craftsmanship to join our team. This role is pivotal in shaping the frontend architecture and elevating the overall user interface and experience of our platform. You will work directly within Ruby on Rails views, utilizing Hotwire, Turbo, Stimulus, and Tailwind to simplify complex workflows and craft intuitive, responsive user interfaces. Your expertise will influence frontend patterns across the product, transforming interconnected systems into fast, clear, and approachable experiences for our users. This position requires high collaboration, strategic thinking, and a customer-centric mindset, as you will be defining standards, raising quality benchmarks, and influencing how the entire Engineering, Product, and Design teams approach user experience. You will also engage closely with creators and backers, gaining firsthand insights into their needs and challenges.
Qualifications
- Deep experience building high-quality user interfaces with recent hands-on coding
- Strong fundamentals in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and browser behavior
- Proficiency working directly in Rails views, helpers, and partials
- Experience with or strong interest in Hotwire, Turbo, Stimulus
- Preference for simple, maintainable systems over unnecessary abstractions
- Strong product and interaction design instincts
- Experience in simplifying complex workflows to improve usability
- Ability to work effectively amid ambiguity and evolving requirements
- Experience shaping engineering patterns, conventions, and best practices
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- 10+ years of software development experience preferred, with a history of working on complex projects (not strictly required but highly advantageous)
- Deep knowledge of Ruby, Rails, and JavaScript
- Passion for software usability and user experience
- Experience working across product, design, and backend concerns
- Preference for cohesive Rails applications over fragmented frontend stacks or SPAs
- Comfort with constraints as a creative tool and working in environments favoring long periods of solo or focused work
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Director of Engineering and fellow Staff Engineers to define and influence technical direction
- Lead the evolution of frontend architecture, including components and rendering strategies
- Translate product and design requirements into elegant, maintainable UI solutions
- Simplify complex workflows to enhance usability, responsiveness, and performance
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and Design teams to develop innovative solutions
- Mentor engineers to elevate frontend and UX craftsmanship across the team
- Contribute to establishing frontend patterns and standards that improve overall code quality
- Participate actively in code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing to foster a culture of excellence
- Help shape the future of our platform by advocating for user-centered design and technical best practices
- Engage with customer-facing teams to understand user needs and incorporate feedback into development processes
- Maintain a focus on building scalable, maintainable, and simple systems aligned with company values
