Your leadership will be pivotal in coaching and mentoring engineers, elevating the standards of trustworthiness and reliability across our data ecosystem.
This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects such as unifying Lob’s foundational data ecosystem, creating modular frameworks for event publishing, implementing monitoring and alerting systems, and deprecating outdated legacy systems without disrupting core functionalities. You will also be responsible for optimizing cloud and SaaS expenditures, participating in on-call rotations, and aligning strategic initiatives across the broader technical team.

- Strong knowledge of modern software development practices including APIs, version control, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with various databases, including transactional (PostgreSQL preferred) and document/vector databases (Elasticsearch, etc.)
- Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) and pipeline orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Prefect
- Understanding of Change Data Capture (CDC) patterns and methods
- Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management capabilities
- Ability to work decisively and adaptively amidst ambiguity
- Experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as ClaudeCode or Cursor is a plus
