We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team, specifically focusing on enhancing activation and engagement flows for team users. This pivotal role involves leading large, ambiguous technical challenges directly linked to key company metrics and translating them into actionable six-month roadmaps. The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of complex projects across multiple teams, guiding 15–20 engineers through architectural design, development, and deployment processes. As a technical leader, you will collaborate closely with product management to shape strategic initiatives, influence organizational roadmaps, and establish technical standards that drive reliability, scalability, and operational excellence. The role demands a hands-on approach, including daily coding, critical reviews, and architectural leadership, while mentoring senior talent and fostering a culture of high-quality engineering. Over time, you will evolve from a cross-team technical driver into a strategic technical visionary, aligning engineering efforts with broader organizational goals to maximize impact and innovation.Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics, mathematics) or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 12 years of professional experience as a software engineer
- Proven experience working within consumer user-facing teams, not limited to platform or developer API teams
- Strong expertise across multiple technical domains, including frontend, mobile, search, databases, storage, concurrency, and modern ML or LLM-based APIs and frameworks
- Experience leading large-scale projects and managing cross-functional engineering teams
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to own and resolve complex technical challenges
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with product teams, stakeholders, and engineering peers
- Hands-on coding experience, especially in designing and implementing foundational system components
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of a team comprising 12 engineers, ensuring the achievement of high-impact business and customer outcomes
- Define and shape the technical direction of projects, partnering with product management to align on critical company-wide objectives
- Own and drive solutions for large, ambiguous technical and product challenges that create significant organizational opportunities
- Act as a prolific, hands-on coder by owning and implementing critical, complex, and foundational system components
- Influence product roadmaps across organizational boundaries, breaking down silos and guiding strategic decisions
- Architect and develop foundational systems that enable new product capabilities while ensuring reliability at a global scale
- Demonstrate senior technical leadership, maintaining high engineering standards and operational excellence in a virtual-first environment
- Participate in on-call rotations, providing support and ensuring system availability and performance
- Mentor and coach senior engineers, raising the technical bar and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
