About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Software Engineer to join our Growth squad, focusing on enhancing the member journey from initial contact through purchase. In this role, you will be instrumental in removing friction points, optimizing conversion rates, and validating new onboarding methods, including conversational AI solutions. Your technical expertise will drive the development of scalable, high-performance frontend and backend systems that directly impact user experience and business outcomes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Product, Design, Data, and other engineering squads—to identify opportunities for growth and implement effective solutions. Your work will contribute to creating a seamless, reliable, and engaging experience for our users, ultimately supporting Trust & Will’s mission to democratize estate planning.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in high-performing, product-driven environments
- Proficiency in React, TypeScript, Next.js, and Node.js
- Experience designing and working with APIs and data models (MongoDB, Postgres)
- Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure, including infrastructure-as-code tools such as CloudFormation or AWS CDK
- Strong coding practices with a focus on clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Experience with experimentation frameworks, including A/B testing and feature flags
- Advanced debugging and performance optimization skills
- Knowledge of observability tools for logging, monitoring, and tracing
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and applying AI to enhance onboarding and personalization
- Ability to define, track, and analyze key product and engineering metrics (e.g., conversion rates, latency)
- Understanding of security and privacy standards related to handling sensitive user data
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Own and optimize the end-to-end pre-purchase experience, including Home, Registration, Cart, and Purchase flows, to maximize conversion rates and revenue
- Design, implement, and analyze experiments such as A/B tests and feature flags to validate hypotheses and improve the customer journey
- Contribute to the development of AI-powered onboarding experiences, exploring innovative ways to guide and assist users effectively
- Ensure application performance, reduce latency, and maintain system stability during critical conversion points
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and other squads to align on growth strategies and share insights
- Design and deliver scalable, high-quality frontend and backend systems that impact user engagement and conversion
- Utilize data and experimentation results to inform engineering decisions and prioritize improvements
- Implement best practices in testing, observability, and CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid, safe iterations
- Identify and address bottlenecks in the user journey, balancing speed of delivery with system health
- Build features that reduce drop-off, increase purchase confidence, and enhance overall user satisfaction
- Proactively monitor performance and user feedback to identify issues and opportunities for optimization
- Mentor team members, fostering a culture of growth, impact, and continuous learning
