About The Role

The Boeing Company is seeking a Lead Software Engineer with an active Top Secret Security Clearance to support our Phantom Works Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software (OASIS) team in Berkeley, MO. This role focuses on supporting Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization, specifically engaging in advanced research and development projects. Phantom Works is responsible for pioneering visual modeling and simulation, innovating cross-cutting technologies, prototyping solutions to extend current products, and exploring new markets. The successful candidate will lead software design and development efforts related to space-based effects for air domain missions. They will work collaboratively in a dynamic environment, solving complex problems with ingenuity and innovation, and will mentor junior engineers while interfacing with various programming languages and development environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, data science, or related field
  • Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance
  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience with Java and/or C++ object-oriented programming
  • 3+ years of experience leading software development projects
  • 1+ years of MATLAB experience
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps tools such as Git, GitLab, CMake, and experience with version control and continuous integration
  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and customer-oriented skills
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and execution of software development tasks, including detailed design, coding, and testing of features and user stories, ensuring acceptance criteria are met
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements and translate them into software specifications that meet operational and performance needs with clear traceability
  • Perform system-level analysis to identify risks and opportunities, leading mitigation strategies throughout the software lifecycle
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standards
  • Oversee testing processes, verification, issue resolution, and integration activities for software systems
  • Review product and process alignment with project plans and industry standards, tracking team and supplier performance
  • Mentor and coach junior software engineers to foster skill development and best practices
  • Interface with various programming languages and development environments to ensure seamless integration
