We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to join our Enterprise Architecture team. This is a remote position with a focus on Kafka-based event-driven integrations. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable enterprise integration solutions that align with the bank’s architectural standards and business objectives. This technical leadership position requires a deep understanding of distributed systems, real-time data processing, and cloud-native architectures. The Lead Software Engineer will also serve as a mentor to junior staff, provide strategic technical guidance, and ensure the reliability and performance of our data pipelines and integration platforms.

About The Role

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with at least 6 years of experience in software application development and maintenance.
- OR High School Diploma or GED with 10 years of experience in software application development and maintenance.
- Preferred: Experience in designing, configuring, and maintaining Confluent Kafka clusters across multi-data center and cloud environments.
- Hands-on expertise with Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and Schema Registry.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go.
- Experience in integrating legacy systems and modernizing monolithic applications.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of container orchestration tools like Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Ability to manage technical risks, dependencies, and escalations proactively.
- Design, configure, and maintain Confluent Kafka clusters in multi-data center and cloud environments to ensure high availability and scalability.
- Implement authorization, authentication, and schema governance to secure data pipelines and ensure compliance.
- Build and optimize real-time data pipelines using Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and KSQL/FLinkSQL.
- Monitor system metrics, troubleshoot performance issues, and implement improvements to maintain system reliability and efficiency.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of current technology trends and assess their impact on the bank’s infrastructure, providing relevant guidance and training to team members.
- Provide technical consultation and guidance to associates, management, and project teams for complex software development projects.
- Advise on strategies that align development initiatives with long-term business goals and technological standards.
- Manage technical risks, dependencies, and escalations, ensuring proactive communication and timely resolution.
- Competitive salary range between $130,109 and $170,000, based on skills, experience, and location.
