About The Role
As a Principal Software Engineer at Veeva, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and guiding the creation of highly scalable and maintainable enterprise applications. Your expertise will empower our customers in the life sciences sector to operate more efficiently and safely. You will lead technical initiatives, mentor engineering teams, and drive the adoption of best practices. Qualifications
- 12+ years of proven software development experience, with a strong focus on Java development
- Extensive experience in developing high-scale enterprise SaaS cloud applications
- Proven track record of architecting and building high-volume, scalable products
- Hands-on experience with open-source tools and technologies such as Java, Spring, MySQL, Gradle, Git, Jenkins, AspectJ, Messaging, and Solr/Lucene
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineering talent
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues rapidly
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- High work ethic, adaptability, and a passion for fast-paced environments
- Unrestricted right to work in the United States (no sponsorship provided)
Responsibilities
- Own all stages of feature development, from initial design and development through deployment, support, and maintenance
- Collaborate with Product Management and Development teams to craft technical solutions and problem-solving strategies
- Quickly analyze complex technical problems, identifying key knowns and unknowns to develop robust solutions
- Define, promote, and mentor engineering best practices and coding standards across teams
- Conduct comprehensive code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable code from engineers of all experience levels
- Mentor and develop engineering talent through structured guidance and knowledge sharing
- Drive technical innovation and contribute to the strategic direction of Veeva’s enterprise applications
- Maintain a focus on scalability, performance, and security in all development efforts
