This role offers a unique opportunity to lead solutioning and development efforts for a new line of business focused on investment services. As a key member of a dynamic, startup-minded team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of innovative investment solutions that serve our members' financial needs. Working in an agile, fast-paced environment, you will leverage modern technologies such as Go, Java, APIs, and OpenShift to develop scalable, secure, and digital-first experiences. The position involves leading enterprise-level Java-based application development, mentoring junior engineers, participating in design reviews, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience (minimum 4 years).
- 8+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years leading enterprise technology initiatives.
- 6+ years delivering solutions across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Deep expertise in Java, JavaScript, Spring Boot, and modern software engineering practices.
- Enterprise-level experience leading Java-based application development.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing dynamic UI and server-driven UI frameworks using React, Redux, and Spring Boot.
- Experience developing scalable API-first solutions utilizing REST APIs, Docker, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Strong background in cloud-native architecture, particularly using OpenShift, AWS, containerization, and automation.
- Demonstrated leadership in building secure, resilient, and high-performance enterprise applications, including threat modeling and secure coding practices.
- Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka, real-time streaming, and asynchronous processing.
- Familiarity with UI, API, and workflow orchestration platforms such as Flowable or Camunda.
- Experience integrating with enterprise data platforms like Snowflake, data warehouses, and processing pipelines.
- Knowledge of modern engineering practices including TDD, automated testing, Git, CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI), Maven, and Gradle.
- Experience supporting regulated financial services environments such as wealth management, brokerage, or investment services.
- Desirable: Experience with Documentum and DocuSign integrations.
- Design, develop, code, and test complex technical solutions aligned with business requirements.
- Investigate and resolve complex application and system issues, including production incidents, through troubleshooting techniques.
- Conduct systems analysis to identify opportunities for operational improvements and recommend policy or procedural changes.
- Prepare and install complex solutions by defining system specifications, standards, and programming requirements.
- Adhere to the software development lifecycle, ensuring quality and timely delivery of solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, learning key system design principles, and contributing to best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and review code contributions from team members to ensure quality standards.
- Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks associated with business activities in compliance with risk and regulatory policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative investment solutions that enhance member experience.
- Lead the development of scalable, secure, and resilient applications utilizing modern cloud-native and API-first architectures.
- Implement event-driven architectures and integrate various enterprise systems and data platforms.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing system performance and recommending enhancements.
