Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in data or analytics engineering, with a proven track record of managing complex, business-critical data systems end-to-end.
- Deep expertise with the modern data stack, including Snowflake, dbt, Dagster, Databricks, Terraform, and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience leading platform migrations, deprecations, or upgrades, ensuring operational continuity and maintainability.
- Ability to design secure, reusable data ingestion, access control, and platform automation patterns in collaboration with Infrastructure, Security, and Governance teams.
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices, data governance, and FinOps principles.
- Proven ability to break down ambiguous, cross-functional data problems and lead their implementation from design to deployment.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
- Passion for mentoring, setting standards, and improving overall data platform quality.
- Lead the design and implementation of foundational data products and analytics capabilities that support critical business use cases.
- Drive platform modernization initiatives, including migrating pipelines to scalable patterns, deprecating legacy workflows, and enhancing infrastructure and developer experience.
- Develop and maintain high-leverage infrastructure solutions across systems like Snowflake, Dagster, and dbt, focusing on cost reduction, governance, and scalability.
- Own platform evolution projects to improve data accessibility, orchestration tooling, and automation for analytics workflows.
- Architect scalable and extensible data modeling, transformation, and orchestration patterns that balance flexibility, reusability, and cost-efficiency.
- Lead technical planning, breaking down complex initiatives into manageable workstreams for cross-functional teams.
- Mentor engineers, promote best practices, and contribute to internal documentation and tooling to elevate team capabilities.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, data science, and business teams to gather requirements and deliver end-to-end data solutions.
- Represent Data Engineering in technical forums, contribute to strategic roadmaps, and influence the future direction of data initiatives at Upside.
