SOSi is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to support mission-critical requirements by developing, integrating, and maintaining a scalable, federated data ecosystem. The primary focus of this role is to enhance interoperability, governance, and analytics capabilities for a Department of Defense (DoD) customer. The Cloud Engineer will play a pivotal role in bridging operational gaps between the DoD, Intelligence Community, interagency partners, and international allies by enabling real-time information sharing, dynamic data integration, and mission-specific analytical tools. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing secure cloud environments in AWS and Azure, ensuring compliance with DoD security frameworks. They will optimize cloud networking, implement Infrastructure-as-Code solutions, and support cloud security and performance initiatives. Collaboration with other teams and contractors will be essential to ensure seamless infrastructure provisioning, resource management, and cost efficiency across multiple security levels (IL2, IL4, IL5). This role requires a proactive approach to cloud security, resource optimization, and compliance, supporting the broader mission of enabling secure, scalable, and efficient cloud operations tailored to the unique needs of defense and government projects.Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining GovCloud-based infrastructures on AWS and Azure.
- Proficiency in cloud architecture, networking, virtualization, containerization, and security best practices.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
- Strong understanding of hybrid and multi-cloud configurations, including VPC peering, IAM, and cross-domain solutions.
- Familiarity with DoD security frameworks, including RMF, NIST 800-53 Rev. 5, FedRAMP, and DoD IL-4/IL-5 mandates.
- Experience in preparing security documentation, conducting compliance assessments, and maintaining continuous monitoring for Authority to Operate (ATO).
- Ability to optimize cloud resources for compute, storage, and network efficiency while ensuring full compliance with DoD policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or five (5) years of equivalent cloud engineering experience.
- Experience supporting security compliance processes, including SSP, SAR, and POA&M documentation.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain secure cloud environments in AWS and Azure, adhering to DoD security standards.
- Configure identity and access management (IAM), enforce role-based access controls (RBAC), and manage security groups and firewalls.
- Optimize cloud networking configurations, including VPC peering, VPNs, and cross-domain connectivity for secure operations.
- Develop and implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions to automate cloud deployment processes.
- Contribute to security and performance reports, detailing configurations, resource utilization, and compliance status.
- Track and report cloud resource usage, including Kubernetes workloads, using native observability tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and Cost Explorer.
- Coordinate with other contractors to reconcile cloud usage, manage reservations, and provide monthly resource and cost reports.
- Advise on workload placement and optimization strategies across IL2, IL4, and IL5 environments to balance cost, security, and performance.
- Provision and maintain GovCloud infrastructure, implementing cloud-native monitoring, cost tracking, and compliance automation tools.
- Provision shared container environments and storage solutions, ensuring secure and efficient resource sharing across Work Orders.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement security controls and maintain compliance with DoD and federal standards.
