We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will have a significant impact on the development and evolution of our core product, as well as influence the company's culture and strategic direction. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in building web applications from scratch, demonstrating a solid understanding of backend development principles and modern infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing, architecting, and implementing features that directly contribute to our mission of delivering innovative financial insights. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, ownership of product outcomes, and active participation in shaping company culture are key aspects of this role.Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in backend development
- Proficiency in Python programming language
- Experience with Django framework (preferred)
- Strong track record of building and deploying web applications
- Familiarity with modern infrastructure tools such as Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, CircleCI (preferred but not required)
- Understanding of modern software development practices including Gitflow, continuous integration, and peer code reviews
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
- Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset
Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and develop the core components of Standard Metrics' platform as part of the engineering team
- Take ownership of features and outcomes, supporting their growth through iteration, documentation, and bug fixing
- Collaborate closely with the product team to define and scope features that align with company goals and values
- Participate actively in shaping the engineering culture and contribute to hiring efforts
- Maintain high standards of code quality, security, and performance
- Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies to continuously improve our platform
- Support deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of applications in cloud environments
