About The Role
We are seeking a talented Junior-level Software Developer to join our team remotely and support a high-visibility federal modernization program. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects that modernize legacy systems, implement cutting-edge cloud technologies, and enhance government IT infrastructure. The successful candidate will be involved in developing microservices within a cloud-native environment, troubleshooting complex system issues, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, Security, and Architecture. This position requires a minimum of a Secret Security Clearance and offers the flexibility of remote work, with occasional travel as needed. The role is ideal for individuals passionate about solving complex technical challenges and making a tangible difference in national security and public service.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of relevant work experience or Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming principles
- Experience developing microservices, REST APIs, and cloud-native applications
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerization, and automated deployment tools
- Proficiency in designing, developing, and operating solutions within AWS or other cloud platforms
- Experience with event-driven architectures, including Apache Kafka, Pub/Sub patterns, streaming, or event sourcing
- Familiarity with GitOps practices and tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, or ArgoCD
- Experience working within Agile frameworks, including Scrum or SAFe methodologies
- Knowledge of Atlassian tools like Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket
- Develop, modify, and maintain software applications and specialized utility programs
- Create microservices in a cloud-native environment, ensuring scalability and reliability
- Operate and monitor enterprise-scale production systems, troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly
- Analyze user needs to develop robust software solutions aligned with organizational goals
- Design and develop databases within application areas, collaborating with team members as needed
- Apply principles of computer science, engineering, and distributed system design in project development
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and mentoring junior developers to promote engineering excellence
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, Security, and Architecture to ensure seamless integration and deployment
- Support migration efforts from legacy mainframe systems to cloud-based environments such as AWS GovCloud
- Implement investigative search capabilities using Elasticsearch or similar technologies to improve analytical performance
- Build new microservices using OpenShift container platforms following scalable, cloud-native patterns
- Support integration with event-driven architectures and high-throughput data processing systems
- Competitive salary range of $84,000 - $87,000, commensurate with experience
