Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on Android development.
- Minimum of 3+ years of deep expertise in Kotlin and modern Android architectural patterns.
- Proven experience in building and deploying Android applications, with at least 4+ projects from ideation to production.
- Prior experience in ad tech, particularly in creating highly interactive and rich-media mobile experiences.
- Strong product mindset with a history of delivering user-facing features emphasizing UI polish and performance.
- Solid understanding of system design, especially in complex, data-intensive environments.
- Experience leveraging GenAI tools to enhance software engineering productivity.
- Proficiency in designing and analyzing experiments using tools like BigQuery, Firebase, HEX, etc.
- Versatility to work across the tech stack and explore innovative approaches, including AI/ML integration.
- Self-directed, innovative, and proactive with an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration in a remote environment, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong leadership skills with a history of mentoring and uplifting engineering teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working on video ads and at scaled peer companies.
- Familiarity with Jetpack Compose is preferred.
- Partner with product and design teams to develop a strategic roadmap for transforming Reddit’s Video Ads into an industry-leading offering.
- Lead the technical design and execution of projects related to new ad formats, ensuring scalability and high performance on Android.
- Establish and promote Android best practices, providing technical guidance, design reviews, and code quality standards.
- Drive the full development lifecycle, including discovery, prototyping, testing, data-driven experimentation, and deployment.
- Mentor senior engineers across teams, fostering technical excellence and operational best practices.
- Innovate by integrating emerging technologies such as AI/ML to enhance ad experiences and engineering productivity.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure ad formats are optimized for user engagement and brand impact.
- Monitor and analyze system performance and user metrics to inform continuous improvement efforts.
