The Opportunity: Senior Product Manager, Risk Management

We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager, Risk Management to lead and evolve Sunbit’s risk decisioning products. This pivotal role involves close collaboration with ML Strategists, Engineering Leads, and business stakeholders across our Card, BNPL, and emerging product lines. You will be instrumental in defining and executing the product strategy for approvals, terms, and expected loss, ensuring alignment with Sunbit’s risk portfolio, regulatory requirements, and long-term unit economics. A key initiative will be transitioning Sunbit from product-specific silos to a generic, high-velocity decisioning engine, requiring strong judgment, deep analytical thinking, and the ability to translate complex risk logic into scalable, explainable platforms.

Your Mission

As the Senior Product Manager, Risk Management, your mission is to build an advanced, adaptable decisioning platform that eliminates financial waste and prepares Sunbit for hyper-growth. You will architect systems for approval, pricing, and risk management, transforming complex data into fair, instant, and transparent outcomes for millions of customers.

What You’ll Do:

• Risk Strategy & Decisioning Ownership: Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Sunbit’s generic risk and credit decisioning systems. Translate business goals into clear, measurable product behavior across underwriting, pricing, limits, and lifecycle decisions.
• Credit & Risk Decisioning Systems: Own the end-to-end decisioning platform, including real-time and lifecycle risk decisions, policy frameworks (rules and models), risk signal ingestion, persistence layers, and decisioning logic, ensuring consistency, explainability, and scalability.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as the central point in the "Decisioning Triangle," collaborating with ML Leads and Engineer Leads to operationalize underwriting policies, balancing approval rates, loss, revenue, and customer experience. Partner with various business owners, Compliance, Legal, and Operations.
• Hands-On Product Management: Own the full product lifecycle from discovery to launch, iteration, and performance monitoring for key initiatives. Use data and experimentation to inform decisions and continuously improve outcomes, identifying and removing bottlenecks to drive automation and speed-to-market.
• Risk Metrics & Business Outcomes: Own and drive core risk KPIs, including loss rate, performance, approval rates, and customer friction. Ensure product decisions directly impact and improve business performance.
• Lifecycle Risk Management: Manage risk as a continuous lifecycle, from initial underwriting to line management, eligibility changes, and early warning signals.

Your Focus Areas Will Include:

• Building a unified engine for Card, BNPL, and future products.
• Credit underwriting and risk decisioning platforms.
• Policy and model orchestration frameworks for rapid deployment.
• Risk signal ingestion and feature availability.
• Lifecycle risk management (initial decision through repayment).
• Automated adverse action, explainability, and regulatory compliance.
• Integration of fraud signals for holistic risk management.

What You’ll Bring:

• 8+ years of product management experience, with significant ownership of complex, data-driven, platform-centric infrastructure.
• Strong experience in fintech, lending, or risk-related domains, with a solid understanding of credit risk and loss management.
• Proven ability to lead by merit and logic within a matrixed structure, partnering with ML Strategists and Squad Leads.
• Hands-on experience driving products from concept to launch, including writing requirements, managing backlogs, and using data to guide decisions.
• Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills, with comfort making trade-offs in ambiguous environments.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex risk concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and a track record of balancing competing priorities.
• A proven ability to thrive in "technical chaos" and create order through structured roadmaps.
• A high sense of ownership, accountability, and bias toward action.

• Experience with credit models, underwriting systems, or decision engines.
• Experience scaling risk systems across products or geographies.
• Familiarity with fraud detection and prevention systems.
