Job Description

Product Counsel, Crypto at Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses, helping millions of companies process payments, grow revenue, and accelerate new opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, offering an unprecedented chance to impact the global economy.

About The Team

Stripe’s Product Legal team manages the legal and regulatory aspects of product design, build, and execution. We tackle complex technical, commercial, and regulatory challenges. In this role, you will be a key advisor to Stripe’s product, engineering, and partnerships teams, working across financial services, business, and technology. The ideal candidate is passionate about Stripe’s mission, thrives on solving complex issues collaboratively, and is a proactive team player.

What you’ll do

Responsibilities
  • Be a vital part of a growing Product Counsel team ensuring Stripe products comply with global laws and contractual commitments, specifically focusing on cryptocurrency, stablecoin, and traditional fiat money movement products.
  • Actively collaborate with various Stripe teams, including product, engineering, partnerships, compliance, risk, and marketing, on product development and commercialization. This includes advising on new legal/regulatory developments, identifying trends, and adapting existing laws to emerging technologies.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Stripe’s global legal team to support the company's regulatory structure, customer agreements, and strategic financial partnerships.
  • Help scope and build scalable, effective processes for the legal review and launch of new products.
  • Stay up-to-date on US, UK, EU, and other global laws and regulations pertaining to cryptocurrency and stablecoin products, with support from Stripe’s subject matter experts.
  • Participate as a proactive and strategic business partner and trusted advisor to senior leaders.

Who you are

We encourage you to apply if you meet the minimum requirements, as preferred qualifications are a bonus.

Minimum Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience as a qualified lawyer in a top law firm, in-house legal team, and/or government agency, with expertise in key legislation around cryptocurrency and stablecoin products.
  • Familiarity with counseling teams that solve issues through technology by translating complex legal requirements into clear, actionable advice.
  • Collaborative team player who shares knowledge and experience.
  • A qualified US lawyer.
  • A passion for technology and ability to quickly understand complex business models and product use cases.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit: a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and focuses on driving impact.
  • Excellent judgment and capable of making smart decisions with imperfect information.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
