About The Team
The Web Presence and Platform team is divided into two pillars: Presence and Platform. The Presence pillar crafts industry-leading front door designs, while the Platform pillar builds and maintains the machinery behind the scenes for fast, stable, and easily updatable websites.
What You’ll Do
As a Design Engineer at Stripe, you will concept, prototype, and build new experiences for our web presence. Your role spans working on evergreen pages and time-based campaigns, utilizing and contributing to design systems and libraries, and sometimes breaking new ground outside established systems. Performance and user experience are key, and you will collaborate with designers and engineers to enhance Stripe’s public interfaces.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with designers and partners to create and maintain Stripe.com.
- Work closely with other design engineers by pairing and mentoring.
- Prototype and implement web animations and interactive product launch materials.
- Build end-user experiences that are both beautiful and functional.
- Utilize, maintain, and extend Stripe's design systems.
- Integrate web platforms with self-serve authoring and experimentation tools.
Who You Are
You have a passion for web storytelling. You possess at least 3 years of relevant front-end development or creative technology experience, have advanced knowledge in modern HTML and CSS, and can write clear, elegant code. A strong portfolio showcasing design systems, microsites, web animations, and interactive tools is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of design fundamentals including typography and layout.
- Proficiency with React, focusing on interactions, animation, and performance.
- Experience with A/B testing, synthetic monitoring, or accessibility testing.
Work Arrangement
This role is hybrid. It can be performed in-office or remotely if located 35+ miles from a Stripe office. In-office employees are expected to work at least 50% of the time at the local office.
Pay and Benefits
The annual US base salary range is $130,600 - $195,900, which may vary based on experience, qualifications, and location. Benefits include equity, bonuses, a 401(k) plan, health benefits, and wellness stipends.
